Head Quack
Julianne McCollum
People love calling me the Head Quack.
Before founding Yellow Duck Marketing, I spent 11 years inside Crosland, one of the Southeast’s most respected developers, leading marketing, communications, technology and public relations across their full portfolio. I oversaw master-planned community branding, managed communications through entitlements and built the digital and brand infrastructure for a diversified real estate company from the inside out. Now our team brings that same developer-side perspective and client empathy to every engagement — branding, PR, web design, community relations, eventing for shopping centers and mixed-use developments as well as destination marketing for municipalities and hospitality clients. I also oversaw marketing for three large-scale multiphase master-planned communities with 10+ builder partners.
Throughout my career, I’ve been entrusted with the management of corporate brands and their public relations, guiding them through periods of growth and consolidation alike. I find inspiration in assisting organizations to formulate strategies that foster business growth, brand definement or how they might enhance their community. I have facilitated visioning sessions for small to large mixed-use real estate projects from Idaho to Jamaica.
My educational foundation includes a BA in Consumer Sciences from Purdue University and an MBA from Wake Forest University. Moreover, I take pride in being an alumna of Leadership Charlotte and a certified charrette facilitator accredited by the National Charrette Institute. One of my favorite assignments is that for the last 5 years I’ve lead community and public relations for Steak 48, NC’s highest-grossing restaurant.
Currently, I hold volunteer positions on the boards of Charlotte Ballet and the Urban Land Institute. My previous engagements encompass roles on the Catawba Lands Conservancy, Charlotte Interactive Marketing Association, and FreeMoreWest board of directors, along with participation in the 24 Hours of Booty marketing committee and Ascend Nonprofit Solutions (formerly Children & Family Services Center. Recognized as a “Most Admired CEO” by Charlotte Business Journal in 2025 and one of The 50 Most Influential Women in the greater Charlotte region by Mecklenburg Times, my greatest accomplishment is being able to keep up with my very active two wonderful little boys.
