SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS LEAD, UTILITIES & MUNICIPAL
Laura N. Bailey
Hiya! Feel free to call me L.
My journey to Yellow Duck started across the pond in Hull, England, before eventually making my way to Charlotte. After earning my bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University, I began my career in communications with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and North Carolina Emergency Management. While supporting statewide communications efforts, I also earned my master’s degree in communications from Syracuse University. During Hurricanes Matthew and Florence, I worked alongside local, state and federal agencies to keep North Carolinians informed. Those experiences taught me the value of clear, timely communication when people need it most, and they continue to shape how I approach every project today.
Today, as Senior Communications Lead, I partner with municipalities, utilities, engineering firms and infrastructure organizations to help communities understand the projects shaping where they live, work and grow. I love bringing people together, helping teams navigate complex projects with confidence and making sure our clients always feel like they have a trusted partner in their corner. After all, complex projects are challenging enough. Communications shouldn’t be. And if we can share a few laughs along the way, even better.
When I’m not talking about water infrastructure, construction schedules or communications strategy, you’ll find me spending time with my husband Josh, daughter Reese and our dog Chance, or enthusiastically cheering on Liverpool Football Club. (Yes, it’s Football, not soccer.)
YEARS AT YDM: 6
Fun fact: Moving from England to North Carolina has taught me a lot, but I’ll never be convinced that biscuits should come with gravy.
